Job Description
Job Title: Human Resource Officer
Organisation: NFT Consult Limited
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda
Reports to: Finance and administration Manager
To support the organization by ensuring effective management of human resources through recruitment, staff welfare, policy implementation, and fostering positive relationships between employees and management. This role ensures compliance with national labor laws, enhances employee engagement, and aligns HR practices with organizational goals.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Recruitment and Staffing:
Identify staff vacancies, recruit, interview, and select applicants.
Develop and implement workforce planning strategies to address future organizational needs.
Employee Relations and Policy Implementation:
Serve as a liaison between management and employees by addressing grievances, handling queries, and resolving work- related issues.
Ensure the organization’s HR policies and procedures comply with labor laws and recommend necessary updates.
Advise management on policy and procedural matters such as equal employment opportunity, diversity, and harassment prevention.
Training and Development:
Conduct training needs analysis and design professional development programs to address skill gaps in conjunction with line Managers.
Plan and facilitate employee onboarding and orientation to foster alignment with organizational goals.
Manage staff secondment programs.
Compensation and Benefits:
Manage payroll inputs and oversee employee benefits administration, ensuring timely updates and communication.
Evaluate and benchmark compensation structures to maintain competitiveness within the industry.
Performance Management:
Coordinate the performance appraisal process, offering guidance to managers and employees.
Use appraisal data to support career development and succession planning.
Data Management and Reporting:
Maintain accurate personnel records and generate HR-related reports, including recruitment metrics, turnover rates, and training reports.
Analyze HR data to identify trends and provide actionable insights to improve HR practices.
Compliance and Risk Management:
Investigate workplace incidents and report findings to management and insurance carriers.
Represent the organization at personnel-related hearings, labor disputes, or investigations.
Any Other Duties:
Perform any other duties assigned by the head of the Department and Managing Director from time to time.:
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Academic and Professional Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Industrial Psychology or related field.
HR certification (e.g., CIPD, SHRM-CP, PHR ) is highly preferred.
Experience:
Years of work -Minimum of 3–5 years of proven experience in a human resource role.
Technical Competencies:
Demonstrable knowledge of HRIS systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Job Knowledge: Strong understanding of labor laws, employee relations, and compliance practices.
Personal Attributes:
High Interpersonal Skills- Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
Problem-Solving Ability – High problem sensitivity and analytical thinking to handle complex HR issues.
Professionalism – Presentable, confident, empathetic, and maintains high ethical standards.
