Job Description
The HR Business Partner – Academics will work closely with school leadership, faculty, and academic support staff to align HR practices with academic priorities. Key responsibilities include managing recruitment and onboarding of academic staff, driving performance management, handling employee relations and grievances, and overseeing compliance with HR policies and employment law. The role also involves coordinating staff welfare programs, health insurance, training, disciplinary actions, and contributing to strategic planning and change management within the academic environment.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Collaborate with academic leaders to align HR strategies with academic goals
Drive recruitment, selection, onboarding, and induction of academic staff
Handle faculty grievances, engagement initiatives, and conflict resolution
Implement performance appraisals and professional development plans
Coordinate academic staff training and career development opportunities
Ensure compliance with HR policies and labor regulations
Maintain accurate HR records and generate reports on HR metrics
Manage change initiatives within academic units
Oversee disciplinary actions and maintain related documentation
Coordinate health insurance schemes and staff loan facilities
Support employee welfare and staff relations programs
Carry out additional HR-related administrative duties and special projects as needed
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field
Must be a full member of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) with a valid practicing license
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in human resource management and administration
Key Competencies:
Strong relationship-building and communication skills
Analytical thinking and HR data interpretation
Sound judgment and problem-solving capabilities
High level of integrity and confidentiality
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic academic environment
