Job Description
The HSE Assistant is responsible for assisting in the execution and monitoring of health and safety programs and policies. This includes performing safety inspections, maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements, managing safety equipment, and supporting incident investigations. The role involves creating awareness of safety standards and contributing to a secure workplace through proactive engagement and risk mitigation strategies. The candidate must be flexible to work day or night shifts and should have relevant HSE experience, preferably in a manufacturing or steel production environment.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Safety Oversight:
Conduct routine inspections to detect hazards and ensure safety compliance.
Assist with safety audits and risk assessments.
Record and report safety issues or breaches.
Compliance:
Support adherence to local and international health and safety regulations.
Maintain organized documentation for regulatory compliance.
Equipment & Supplies:
Ensure availability and maintenance of safety equipment and PPE.
Inspect and manage the distribution of safety supplies.
Policy Implementation:
Assist in rolling out HSE policies, procedures, and programs.
Promote awareness and understanding of safety policies among staff.
Incident Reporting & Investigation:
Aid in the documentation and investigation of incidents and near-misses.
Identify root causes and assist in implementing corrective actions.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications:
Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management.
Experience:
2–3 years of hands-on HSE experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience in steel manufacturing is a plus.
Other Requirements:
Willingness to work rotational shifts (day/night).
Strong observational, reporting, and communication skills.
Knowledge of workplace health and safety standards and practices.
