Job Summary: On behalf of our client in the Clean and Renewable Energy Sector, we are seeking a competent, skilled, and experienced Head of Sales – Uganda.
The Head of Sales will be responsible for defining and driving the delivery of the organization’s overall sales and revenue targets through effective leadership, strategy, and stakeholder coordination. This role requires a results-driven individual passionate about leading teams, building customer relationships, and driving sustainable growth.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Driving the Sales Strategy
Develop, plan, and implement sales strategies aligned with the company’s short- and long-term objectives.
Grow sales volumes through data-driven performance analysis and regular reporting.
Define and manage sales KPIs, forecasts, budgets, and plans.
Assess and optimize routes to market, implementing strategic sales approaches.
Research and identify new market opportunities and trends to stay ahead of competition.
Drive sales team retention and succession planning for top performers.
Strengthen distribution channels by recruiting and developing Agro Farmers as retail partners.
Recruit, train, and retain Field Sales Agents (FSAs) to achieve company targets.
Drive customer traffic across all service centers in Uganda through strategic initiatives.
Develop and execute market segmentation strategies for optimized performance.
Design effective sales incentives and commission structures to motivate teams.
Team Management and Leadership
Lead by example as an ambassador for company culture and values.
Mentor, inspire, and manage the national sales team (Regional Sales Managers, Sales Team Leads, Service Center Associates, and FSAs).
Promote internal growth through mentorship, training, and coaching.
Diagnose performance challenges using data analytics and implement timely solutions.
Recognize and reward top performance while supporting underperforming team members.
Ensure responsible financial accountability and reporting across sales operations.
Collaboration and Cross-Functional Leadership
Work with the Training Manager to identify and address sales training needs.
Collaborate with HR to recruit and retain top sales talent.
Partner with the Marketing Manager to align marketing initiatives with sales objectives.
Coordinate with product teams to tailor sales strategies for new product launches.
Translate data and insights into actionable sales strategies.
Provide periodic reports on sales performance, potential growth, and expansion plans.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Business Administration, or a related field.
8+ years of professional experience in sales and management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Experience in the off-grid or renewable energy sector is an added advantage.
Proven track record in managing large sales teams and driving high revenue performance.
Experience in start-ups and managing multi-channel sales operations.
Strong analytical, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
Commercially astute with excellent communication and data interpretation skills.
