Job Title

Head of HR Operations job at M-KOPA

Job Description

In this role, you will have the opportunity to shape, own, and implement compensation and benefits strategies aimed at attracting and retaining talent.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • HR Process Management: Oversee and manage HR processes and procedures related to employee lifecycle events, including recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, employee relations, and offboarding.

  • HR Systems Administration: Manage HRIS systems and other HR-related software platforms to ensure data accuracy, system integrity, and optimal utilization of technology to support HR operations.

  • Compliance Management: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and company policies. Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and programs to mitigate legal risks and ensure fair and consistent treatment of employees.

  • Employee Data Management: Oversee the maintenance of employee records, databases, and documentation in compliance with data privacy and security requirements.

  • Reporting and Analytics: Generate HR metrics, reports, and analytics to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), track trends, and provide insights to inform decision-making and strategic planning.

  • HR Service Delivery: Ensure timely and effective delivery of HR services to employees, managers, and other stakeholders. Provide guidance and support on HR-related inquiries, issues, and requests.

  • HR Projects and Initiatives: Lead or contribute to HR projects and initiatives aimed at improving HR processes, enhancing employee experience, driving organizational change, and achieving HR and business objectives.

  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with HR vendors, consultants, and service providers to ensure quality service delivery, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with organizational needs and goals.

  • Employee Relations: Provide guidance and support on employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, grievances, and investigations, in collaboration with HR business partners and legal counsel.

  • Training and Development: Identify training needs, develop training programs, and facilitate training sessions for HR staff and other stakeholders to build HR capabilities, enhance skills, and promote professional development.

  • Budget Management: Develop and manage HR budgets, forecasts, and expenditures in alignment with organizational priorities and financial objectives.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes, optimize HR services, and implement best practices to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and employee satisfaction.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • psychology, or a related field is typically required. Some employers may prefer candidates with a master's degree or professional certifications such as SHRM-SCP or SPHR.

  • Experience: Several years of progressively responsible experience in HR operations, HR management, or related roles is often required. Experience in supervisory or leadership positions may be preferred.

  • HR Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of HR principles, practices, laws, and regulations is essential. This includes knowledge of employment laws, labor relations, compensation and benefits, performance management, employee relations, and HRIS systems.

  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and management skills are necessary to lead and develop a team of HR professionals, oversee HR operations, and drive initiatives to improve HR processes and services.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are important for effectively communicating HR policies, procedures, and programs to employees, managers, and stakeholders.

  • Analytical Skills: The ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to improve HR processes, enhance organizational effectiveness, and address HR-related challenges is critical.

  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong problem-solving skills are essential for identifying HR issues, developing creative solutions, and implementing effective strategies to resolve problems and drive continuous improvement.

  • Attention to Detail: HR operations involve managing various administrative tasks, processes, and documentation. Attention to detail is crucial for ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in HR operations.

  • Technology Proficiency: Proficiency in HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) and other HR-related software and tools is typically required. Experience with HRIS implementation, configuration, and optimization may be beneficial.

  • Change Management: Experience leading change initiatives and managing organizational change related to HR processes, systems, or programs is valuable. The ability to effectively communicate change, engage stakeholders, and mitigate resistance is essential.

  • Ethical Standards: Upholding ethical standards, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and company policies is fundamental for this role.
