Job Description

The Head of Business will lead the development and execution of Pride business growth strategy and offer leadership to business development and delivery teams. He/she will also hold accountability for the performance of all product lines, customer acquisition and retention for the achievement of the growth targets in line with the business plan through ensuring effective management of customer relationships. He/she will also be responsible for driving revenue generation, expanding market share and enhancing Pride's overall competitiveness.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Setting Strategy and Vision: Developing and articulating the company's vision, mission, and strategic direction. Setting long-term goals and objectives in alignment with the organization's mission.

  • Leadership and Management: Providing strong leadership to the executive team and all employees, fostering a positive and productive work culture. Overseeing the management team and ensuring effective execution of business strategies.

  • Financial Management: Overseeing financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting. Monitoring financial performance, analyzing financial data, and making strategic decisions to maximize profitability and shareholder value.

  • Business Development: Identifying growth opportunities and developing strategies to expand the company's market presence, customer base, and revenue streams. Negotiating partnerships, mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic alliances.

  • Operations Management: Ensuring efficient and effective operation of all business functions, including production, sales, marketing, supply chain, and customer service. Implementing best practices to optimize operational efficiency and drive continuous improvement.

  • Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating risks that could impact the company's reputation, financial stability, or operations. Implementing risk management strategies to safeguard the organization against potential threats and vulnerabilities.

  • Stakeholder Relations: Building and maintaining positive relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, board members, customers, suppliers, regulators, and the community. Communicating transparently and effectively to earn trust and support.

  • Innovation and Technology: Promoting a culture of innovation and creativity within the organization. Investing in research and development, technology adoption, and digital transformation to stay competitive and drive business growth.

  • Corporate Governance: Ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and corporate governance standards. Upholding ethical business practices and corporate social responsibility initiatives.

  • Public Relations and Communication: Serving as the primary spokesperson for the company, representing its interests to the media, public, and industry stakeholders. Communicating with clarity, transparency, and authenticity to build and maintain the company's reputation.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • A master's degree in commerce, accounting, business management, or any business-related field.

  • Post graduate training in leadership and/or business management.

  • Membership with a professional banking body is an added advantage.

  • At least 10 years' work experience, five (05) of which should be in a similar position at a Senior Management level in a supervised financial institution.

  • Industry specific training e.g.. in risk management, compliance, etc.

  • Demonstrable record of effectively leading large teams of people and track record of effective performance management.
