About the Role
Airtel Uganda is seeking a dynamic and strategic Head of Brand and Communication to lead the company’s brand strategy and communication initiatives. This role is pivotal in driving customer engagement, increasing brand love, and ensuring a consistent brand message across all platforms to achieve business growth and Annual Operating Plan (AOP) objectives.
You will work closely with sales, marketing, and product teams to deliver impactful, revenue-focused campaigns while maintaining Airtel’s brand identity and customer-centric philosophy.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Develop and implement a compelling, customer-driven brand and communication strategy aligned with Airtel’s business goals.
Drive brand love by developing emotionally resonant and effective brand communication.
Prioritize high-impact marketing activities to boost trial, usage, and customer loyalty.
Ensure Airtel achieves target Share of Voice and maintains top-of-mind awareness.
Uphold and promote Airtel’s brand identity and philosophy in all communications.
Innovate and expand into unique, relevant communication channels (including digital and social media).
Benchmark Airtel’s brand efforts against competitors and adapt strategies accordingly.
Create clear, engaging communication that influences consumers to choose Airtel first.
Guide creative development and maintain consistency across campaigns and materials.
Design and manage point-of-sale branding and ensure alignment with corporate identity standards.
Execute digital marketing and social media campaigns with a focus on engagement and cost-efficiency.
Manage communication budgets and ensure efficient use of resources.
Lead, coach, and inspire the Brand & Communications team to deliver outstanding results.
Measure campaign effectiveness and consumer take-rates to inform future strategy.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
MBA or Postgraduate qualification in Marketing, Mass Communication, or Business Administration.
Additional certifications in Advertising, Digital Marketing, or Communication are an added advantage.
8–10 years of experience in marketing, branding, or communications, preferably in the telecom or FMCG sectors.
Minimum 3 years in a leadership or management role.
Agency-side experience is a plus.
