The Head Credit will lead the development and implementation of Pride's credit policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with approved policies and guidelines. He/she will directly co-ordinate. supervise and oversee the evaluation and administration of credit activities. As a Member of the EXCO. he/she will support the development and effective delivery of the Pride's overall strategic plan and business goals.

  • Credit Policy Development: Developing and implementing credit policies, procedures, and guidelines that align with the organization's risk appetite and regulatory requirements. This includes establishing criteria for assessing creditworthiness, setting credit limits, and defining terms and conditions for extending credit.

  • Credit Analysis and Underwriting: Overseeing the process of evaluating the creditworthiness of borrowers and making lending decisions. This involves analyzing financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant information to assess the risk of default and determine the terms of credit facilities.

  • Risk Management: Managing credit risk exposure by identifying, measuring, and monitoring credit risk across the organization's loan portfolio. This includes setting risk tolerance levels, establishing provisions for loan losses, and implementing risk mitigation strategies to protect the organization from credit losses.

  • Credit Approval Authority: Exercising authority to approve or decline credit applications within delegated limits of authority. This may involve reviewing credit proposals, conducting risk assessments, and making recommendations to senior management or credit committees.

  • Portfolio Management: Monitoring the performance of the organization's loan portfolio and taking proactive measures to address deteriorating credit quality or emerging risks. This includes identifying problem loans, restructuring troubled credits, and initiating collection efforts as needed.

  • Compliance and Regulatory Oversight: Ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry best practices governing credit operations. This involves staying abreast of regulatory changes, conducting internal audits, and implementing controls to mitigate compliance risks.

  • Credit Administration: Overseeing the administrative aspects of credit operations, including loan documentation, disbursement, and servicing. This includes ensuring that credit files are complete, accurate, and properly maintained in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

  • Relationship Management: Building and maintaining relationships with internal stakeholders, including lending officers, credit analysts, and other departments involved in the credit process. Additionally, fostering relationships with external parties such as borrowers, regulators, credit bureaus, and industry associations.

  • Training and Development: Providing training, guidance, and support to credit personnel to enhance their skills and knowledge in credit analysis, risk management, and regulatory compliance. This may involve conducting workshops, seminars, and ongoing professional development programs.

  • Reporting and Analysis: Generating reports and performance metrics to track key credit risk indicators, portfolio trends, and credit quality metrics. This includes preparing management reports, board presentations, and regulatory filings to communicate credit risk exposures and compliance status.

  • Strategy and Planning: Contributing to strategic planning initiatives by providing insights and recommendations on credit risk management strategies, product development, and market opportunities. This may involve conducting market research, competitive analysis, and scenario planning to inform decision-making.

  • A relevant master's degree or an equivalent.

  • A business degree in accounting, commerce, business administration, economics. statistics, or any relevant field.

  • At least 10 years' experience in credit management and administration in a supervised financial institution, 5 of which in a managerial role.

  • Relevant practical training in credit in the financial services sector.
