Job Title

Head Chef job at Canary Hotel

Job Description

The head chef at Canary is a culinary expert with over 15 years of experience in the industry. He is responsible for creating and overseeing the menu, ensuring the quality and freshness of the ingredients, and leading a team of talented and passionate cooks. He has a flair for fusion cuisine, combining elements from different regions and cultures to create dishes that are innovative and delicious. He is also committed to sustainability and ethical sourcing, using local and organic produce whenever possible. He is always looking for new ways to delight and surprise the customers with his culinary creations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Planning and overseeing the daily menu, ensuring quality and variety of dishes

  • Supervising and training the kitchen staff, delegating tasks and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards

  • Managing the inventory, ordering supplies and minimizing food waste

  • Liaising with the restaurant manager, the front-of-house staff and the customers, handling feedback and complaints

  • Creating and updating the standard recipes, maintaining consistency and creativity

  • Monitoring the budget, controlling costs and maximizing profits

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef, Executive Chef, Executive Sous Chef in a hotel or fine dining restaurant.

  • Culinary degree or equivalent qualification.

  • Extensive knowledge of culinary techniques, cuisines, & food trends.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • HACCP Certification

  • Excellent creativity, ability to develop unique and appealing menus.

  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and health standards.

  • Proficiency in food cost management and inventory control.

  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
