Head, Global Corporates job at Absa Bank
ABSA Bank
To directly lead the coverage team covering a portfolio of Global Clients in origination and account management to deliver assigned Budgets .
To manage the Groups/Regional Global Clients operating in Uganda
Financial Performance – 45%
Deliver financial targets for the Global Corporates segment in the country
Manage Cost-to-Income ratios of the business to ensure they are aligned with country CTI objectives
Overall responsibility for the client revenue growth of total client base
Understand the key drivers of revenue, price, volume, interest rates, liquidity, growth and supply and demand affecting the Global Corporates client base.
Price deals appropriately in order to ensure attractiveness of the deal to the client, the return is commensurate with the risk and the bank’s profit is maximized.
Identify impediments to the segment’s client deals and resolve with the assistance of interrelated areas in the Bank to ensure that deals in the pipeline are completed as soon as possible to maximize the Bank’s profit
Business Management & Delivery – 10%
Co-ordinate all areas of the Group’s involvement in Uganda and support the remainder of the Group’s involvement, particularly Global Clients to create annual customer plans which are reviewed regularly with risk and product specialists to adequately understand clients’ developments and needs.
Manages all systems, coordinates the various innovation structures for Global Clients and takes responsibility for Global Clients operational efficiency in the country.
Ensure that benefits defined in business cases are realized and that potential shortfalls or changes in the environment are highlighted to management.
Formulate and own overall operational plan across the Global Corporates segment, including: sales, product and channels, organization structure and customer propositions.
Work with the products houses to understand & segment customer needs, identify the most valuable customers and create customized propositions and solutions.
Co-ordinate market approach and portfolio focus of the sales teams to ensure high quality of customer experience and to maximize the banking revenue.
Research, create and implement the target client list of new businesses
Control and manage the risk profile for the overall team portfolio.
Manage performance of the team against key financial (risk-adjusted contribution) sales, service and operational targets.
Leadership and Team Management – 25%
Create a world class sales team through the recruitment & management of leading dedicated sales and service professionals.
Work across the matrix environment of the Bank to drive behavior and performance
Provide clear leadership and direction to the team to achieve optimal performance
Continuously up-skill staff with regard to sales and product knowledge, including knowledge of related processes and external market knowledge.
Manage skills training and knowledge transferal within the team.
Transfer and sharing of best practice to ensure staff receive appropriate training and development opportunities.
Ensure that we adhere to a high performing organization profile and that the necessary tools are in place to maximize the ability of our people.
Periodically assess and document the team’s performance against the agreed objectives to drive excellent performance.
Risk, Governance and Control – 20%
Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Absa Policies and Policy Standards. · Ensure control and quality of the portfolios, using available triggers and adherence to Risk management guidelines and policies.
Ensure annual and if appropriate, interim reviews of customers borrowing facilities are conducted in time.
Identify, document and track key risks in the department to ensure that adequate controls are embedded. · Determine the segment’s risk profile by ensuring alignment to the Country profile, regulatory and governance requirements.
Review the risk management practices of the unit and highlight areas that require improvements. · Drive a culture of proactive compliance in the function.
Actively drive the timely completion of identified assurance actions and review the issue assurance testing conducted on all closed items to avoid recurrence.
