Job Description
The Growth Units Internal Audit Lead will work closely with Country Leadership and the Head of Internal Audit to manage and implement audit activities across Burundi, Tanzania, Malawi, Nigeria, Uganda, and Zambia. This Manager-level position is responsible for developing annual audit plans aligned with organizational goals, executing audits, providing recommendations, and strengthening team capacity. The role plays a critical part in supporting One Acre Fund’s strategic growth by ensuring high standards in financial and operational controls.
Key duties include:
Designing audit strategy and annual plans with clear OKRs
Implementing internal audit methodologies and addressing audit-related requests
Collaborating with management to monitor and close audit findings
Reporting audit outcomes to Country Directors and Growth Unit leadership quarterly
Mentoring and training audit staff to ensure high-quality reporting
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Develop an annual internal audit strategy and plans aligned with organizational priorities
Execute risk-based audits and respond to management requests
Partner with leadership to ensure timely implementation of corrective actions
Present quarterly financial control reports to country and regional leadership
Build internal audit team capacity through mentorship and training
Utilize audit software and data analytics tools for enhanced audit efficiency

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Essential:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in risk-based auditing focused on financial and operational controls
Proven ability to engage and influence senior management
Familiarity with audit software and data analytics tools
Fluency in both English and French
Desirable:
Strong strategic planning and communication skills
Ability to lead a geographically diverse team
Commitment to continuous improvement and learning
Knowledge of agricultural or nonprofit sector auditing is a plus
