Job Description
The Group Product Head – Merchant Payments will report to the Group Head of Payments and lead a team responsible for developing and implementing advanced merchant payment solutions and value-added services. This role requires collaboration across subsidiaries and departments to improve efficiency, drive innovation, and enhance the merchant and customer experience. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in payment systems, leadership in agile product delivery, and deep regulatory awareness.
Key responsibilities include setting product strategy, ensuring the successful deployment of projects, identifying technological and market trends, improving payment operations, and maintaining relationships with external partners and vendors. The role will also drive continuous improvement and ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Develop and execute the Group’s merchant payments strategy in collaboration with the Group Head of Payments.
Design and implement merchant payment solutions using emerging technologies.
Lead a cross-functional team, fostering innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
Identify priority merchant categories and customer experience enhancements in all subsidiaries.
Resolve existing pain points in merchant payments and propose scalable solutions.
Manage day-to-day operations of the merchant payments squad to deliver quality outputs on time.
Drive product innovation to streamline processes and elevate customer experience.
Stay current on market trends, regulatory requirements, and technology changes.
Work with commercial, risk, compliance, and technology departments for alignment and risk mitigation.
Establish partnerships with vendors and stakeholders to enhance payment services.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in product management within the payments or financial services industry.
Proven record of delivering complex projects, especially in merchant payments and value-added services.
Experience in agile product development, preferably as a Product Owner or Product Manager.
Strong experience with merchant acquiring, POS, contactless, card, mobile, and real-time payments.
Regulatory and compliance knowledge in the payments landscape.
Key Skills and Competencies:
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Strategic thinker with a solution-oriented mindset.
Technically adept in payment APIs, payment gateways, and transaction processing systems.
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
