Job Description
The Graphics Design Team Leader will manage and guide the design team through their daily responsibilities. This includes allocating tasks based on skillset, deadlines, and priorities, ensuring all work meets the required standard of quality. The role also involves representing the design department in client meetings, mentoring team members, participating in campaign briefings, and collaborating closely with internal stakeholders including the Head of Creative and the Design Traffic Coordinator. The ideal candidate will implement systems and processes to streamline workflows, evaluate performance, and contribute to the professional development of the design team.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Manage and lead the design team
Oversee the quality, look, and feel of all design outputs
Allocate work using a job ticket system and manage design traffic
Liaise with requestors to ensure accurate, complete briefs
Implement and refine internal design processes and systems
Conduct performance reviews and provide mentorship
Identify skill gaps and recommend relevant training
Coordinate team meetings and campaign briefings
Monitor project progress against timelines and briefs
Maintain brand standards and legal compliance across all materials
Review drafts before final submission to stakeholders
Keep design files and libraries organized and up-to-date
Generate reports on design output and efficiency
Guide junior designers and interns
Stay informed on the latest design trends and tools
Verify design specifications with end-suppliers

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Requirements:
5+ years in a design-related position
Desirable:
Matric (Senior Certificate)
National Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Graphic Design or related field
Key Competencies:

Strong leadership and mentoring skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Strong time management and organizational skills
Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to high-quality service
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
