It was established under Section 42 of the Petroleum (Exploration, Development, and Production) Act and Section 7 of the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream Storage) Act, both of 2013. It was incorporated under the Companies Act of 2012 as a limited liability company on June 12th, 2015.

The Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) Limited was established under the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act and the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream storage) Act, both of 2013 and incorporated under the Companies' Act, 2012. It is a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda.
The overall function of UNOC is to handle the State's commercial interests in the Oil and Gas industry and en- sure that the resource is exploited in a sustainable manner.
UNOC is offering Graduate Internship opportunities for a maximum of six (6) months - non-renewable contract to recent graduates interested in starting a career in an Oil and Gas industry.
Legal Advice and Counsel: Providing legal advice, guidance, and counsel to the organization's management, executives, and employees on a wide range of legal issues and matters affecting the business. This may include contract interpretation, regulatory compliance, risk management, and corporate governance.
Contract Drafting and Review: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, agreements, and legal documents related to the organization's operations, transactions, and relationships with external parties such as customers, suppliers, vendors, and partners.
Compliance Monitoring and Assurance: Monitoring legal and regulatory developments relevant to the organization's industry and operations, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards. This may involve developing compliance programs, policies, and procedures, as well as conducting training and audits.
Litigation Management: Managing and overseeing legal disputes, claims, and litigation involving the organization. This includes assessing legal risks, developing litigation strategies, coordinating with external counsel, and representing the organization in legal proceedings or negotiations.
Intellectual Property Protection: Protecting the organization's intellectual property rights, including trademarks, copyrights, patents, and trade secrets. This may involve filing applications for intellectual property registration, enforcing IP rights, and managing licensing agreements.
Employment Law Compliance: Advising on employment law matters, including employee relations, labor relations, workplace policies, and compliance with employment laws and regulations. This may also include handling employment-related disputes, investigations, and litigation.
Corporate Governance and Compliance: Ensuring compliance with corporate governance principles, regulations, and best practices. This may involve advising on corporate governance matters, preparing board materials, facilitating board meetings, and maintaining corporate records.
Risk Management and Mitigation: Identifying, assessing, and mitigating legal risks and exposures that may impact the organization's operations, reputation, and financial performance. This includes developing risk management strategies, policies, and procedures to minimize legal liabilities.
Government and Regulatory Affairs: Monitoring government and regulatory developments at the local, national, and international levels that may impact the organization's business activities. This may involve engaging with government agencies, regulators, and policymakers to influence legislation and regulations.
Training and Education: Providing training and education to employees on legal matters relevant to their roles and responsibilities. This may include conducting legal workshops, seminars, and training sessions to raise awareness of legal risks and compliance requirements.
Ethics and Compliance Hotline: Managing an ethics and compliance hotline or reporting mechanism for employees to report concerns or violations of company policies, laws, or regulations confidentially and anonymously.

Bachelor of Laws(Hons)
Must provide a copy of University Degree Transcript obtained from a recognized University i.e. (Bachelor's Degree).
Must have a minimum of a 2nd class upper degree, with a minimum CGPA of 4.0.
Must have scored a minimum of a Credit in Mathematics and English subjects at Ordinary Level (O' level).
Must have graduated not more than three years from the time of applying for this opportunity.
