It was established under Section 42 of the Petroleum (Exploration, Development, and Production) Act and Section 7 of the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream Storage) Act, both of 2013. It was incorporated under the Companies Act of 2012 as a limited liability company on June 12th, 2015.

Job Description
The Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) Limited was established under the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act and the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream storage) Act, both of 2013 and incorporated under the Companies' Act, 2012. It is a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda. The overall function of UNOC is to handle the State's commercial interests in the Oil and Gas industry and ensure that the resource is exploited in a sustainable manner.
UNOC now invites applications from persons interested to develop their career with a dynamic and results-oriented Company to occupy the following position
Duties and Responsibilities
Data Acquisition: Assist in acquiring geophysical data through field surveys, including seismic, gravity, magnetic, and electromagnetic methods, under the supervision of senior geophysicists.
Data Processing: Process raw geophysical data using specialized software and techniques to enhance signal quality, reduce noise, and extract valuable geological information.
Interpretation: Assist in interpreting geophysical data to delineate subsurface geological structures, identify potential mineral or hydrocarbon deposits, and assess exploration targets.
Modeling: Build geological and geophysical models to visualize and interpret subsurface structures, stratigraphy, and properties, integrating data from multiple sources for comprehensive analysis.
Mapping: Assist in creating maps and cross-sections based on interpreted geophysical data, geological knowledge, and other relevant information to support exploration decision-making.
Report Writing: Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation summarizing exploration findings, interpretations, and recommendations for further investigation or drilling.
Collaboration: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including geologists, geophysicists, engineers, and data scientists, to integrate geophysical data with other exploration data and insights.
Quality Control: Conduct quality control checks on geophysical data, processing workflows, and interpretation results to ensure accuracy, reliability, and consistency.
Research: Stay informed about advances in geophysical technologies, methodologies, and industry trends through ongoing research, training, and professional development activities.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, as well as company policies and standards, during fieldwork, data acquisition, and exploration activities.

Qualifications and Competencies
Education: A bachelor's degree in geophysics, geology, earth sciences, or a related field is typically required. Some employers may prefer candidates with a master's degree or specialized coursework in exploration geophysics.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in geophysical survey methods, data acquisition techniques, and processing software (e.g., Seismic Unix, Oasis Montaj, Kingdom Suite). Familiarity with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and modeling software is advantageous.
Fieldwork Experience: Previous experience or coursework in geophysical fieldwork, including survey design, equipment operation, data collection, and safety protocols, is beneficial.
Analytical Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex geophysical data, identify patterns and anomalies, and draw meaningful conclusions about subsurface geology.
Computer Skills: Proficiency in computer programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB) and data analysis tools for geophysical data processing, visualization, and modeling.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey technical concepts, present findings, and collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment, sharing knowledge, contributing ideas, and supporting common exploration objectives.
Adaptability: Flexibility and adaptability to work in diverse geological settings, challenging environments, and changing project requirements during fieldwork and data analysis.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail in data analysis, interpretation, and reporting to ensure accuracy and reliability of exploration results.
Professionalism: Professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to ethical conduct, safety standards, and environmental stewardship in all aspects of exploration geophysics work.
