Job Description
As Flight Operations Lead, you will manage a team responsible for drone-based logistics operations, ensuring productivity, goal alignment, and regulatory compliance. You will focus on people management by assigning tasks, evaluating performance, coaching individuals, and guiding professional development. You will also play a critical role in integrating your team’s work with Zipline’s broader operations and strategic initiatives. This role requires an individual with aviation experience, a strong operational background, analytical thinking, and leadership skills.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Team-Level Responsibilities:
Set clear and ambitious goals aligned with national and global objectives
Ensure team clarity on priorities and KPIs
Identify and escalate needs (resources, tools, or skills gaps) early
Delegate strategically to foster team ownership
Assign stretch tasks to promote professional growth
Promote collaboration with other internal teams
Individual-Level Responsibilities:
Support team members in workload prioritization
Lead the team in managing and declining non-priority tasks when necessary
Conduct regular check-ins and provide performance feedback
Understand and support individuals’ career goals
Create clear growth paths for each team member
Provide feedback for underperformance or potential areas for growth
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Proven success in both direct and indirect operational roles
Experience in aviation operations and regulatory compliance
Strong analytical and decision-making skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to lead change and maintain team cohesion during transitions
Demonstrated coaching, mentorship, and critical thinking abilities
Focus on customer experience and service delivery
