Job Description
The Fleet Manager will oversee vehicle scheduling, maintenance planning, supplier management, road safety, fuel accountability, GPS tracking, insurance claims, budgeting, audits, and logistics for field missions. The role includes driver hiring, performance monitoring, training, and enforcing transport and safety standards.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Manage fleet allocation, planning & utilization
Implement preventive maintenance schedules
Recruit, supervise & train drivers
Ensure roadworthiness, licenses, permits & compliance
Monitor fuel use & reconcile consumption reports
Maintain accurate asset & fleet records
Manage insurance cover & claims
Oversee GPS tracking & route optimization
Handle vehicle/spares procurement and vendor contracts
Enforce health & safety standards
Support field logistics and mission planning
Prepare fleet KPIs & cost reports

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Diploma/Bachelor in Logistics, Transport, Business or Mechanical Engineering
3–5 years fleet management experience in Uganda/East Africa
Knowledge of tracking systems & preventive maintenance
Understanding of traffic & insurance regulations
Budgeting, vendor management & reporting skills
Leadership, communication & problem-solving skills
