Job Title: Finance Manager

Contract Type: 1-Year (Renewable)

Job Summary
SAO Uganda is seeking a committed and experienced Finance Manager to oversee its financial operations. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with internal policies, donor regulations, statutory laws, and international accounting standards. The role requires strong financial management, strategic oversight, and alignment with SAO Uganda’s Christian values and mission.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Manage organizational cash flow and liquidity to ensure timely fulfillment of financial obligations in line with the Finance Policy.
Lead the budgeting and financial planning processes in accordance with SAO U planning guidelines.
Monitor expenditure against approved budgets and flag any variances for timely action.
Oversee accounting operations, including accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger functions.
Maintain an accurate and up-to-date fixed asset register.
Prepare and submit timely financial reports, statements, and schedules to the National Director for review and onward submission.
Coordinate annual institutional audits and ensure full compliance with international accounting standards and audit requirements.
Manage and maintain the QuickBooks accounting system, ensuring data integrity and sound financial practices.
Supervise, coach, and evaluate Finance and Accounts Officers; build the financial capacity of Program Finance Officers in line with HR and Finance policies.
Actively participate in strategic decision-making as part of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and provide support to the Board.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or Economics from a recognized university.
Full membership with a reputable professional accountancy body (ACCA, CPA, or CIMA) is required.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in finance and accounting, with at least two (2) years at a managerial level.
Previous experience in the NGO or development sector is highly preferred.
