Job Description
The Finance Manager will be responsible for managing the company’s financial health through timely and accurate financial reporting, budget preparation and monitoring, effective working capital management, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The successful candidate will also lead financial operations evaluations, support audits, and enhance internal financial controls. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this individual will play a critical role in strategic decision-making and operational excellence.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Financial and Management Reporting
Prepare monthly management reports with analysis by location, category, and period.
Prepare year-end financial statements in line with accounting standards.
Reconcile ledger accounts for accuracy and compliance.
Develop departmental financial reports for performance evaluation.
Budgeting and Forecasting
Assist in annual budget and forecast preparation.
Support departmental budgeting and variance analysis.
Prepare cash flow forecasts for decision-making.
Working Capital Management
Maintain a monthly cash plan to support business operations.
Review and approve payments, ensuring full documentation.
Conduct daily/monthly bank reconciliations.
Ensure timely reconciliations for debtors and creditors.
Approve credit notes, petty cash, and undelivered sales invoice reports.
Maintain records of supplier advance payments.
Compliance and Regulatory Reporting
Review and file tax returns accurately and on time.
Reconcile tax ledgers with iTax.
Implement and comply with new tax procedures and KRA regulations.
Leadership and Collaboration
Evaluate and improve financial operations and internal controls.
Coordinate external and tax audits.
Liaise with banks on credit facilities and daily financial matters.
Train and develop the finance team.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
CPA (K) or equivalent professional qualification.
Master’s degree is an added advantage.
5+ years of progressive finance experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial role.
Strong knowledge of SAP and financial analysis.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team leadership skills.
Ability to influence decisions across all levels of the organization.
