Job Description
As a core member of the Group Finance team, the External Reporting Manager will be responsible for the preparation and delivery of group consolidated financial statements, external audit coordination, and technical accounting guidance. Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, this role involves managing financial data integrity, designing processes and controls, overseeing inter-company reporting, and integrating new acquisitions. The successful candidate will also supervise accounting staff, drive automation initiatives, and ensure timely reporting to stakeholders, shareholders, and regulators. A hybrid setup is offered, with the role based in Sandton, Johannesburg.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate external audits and financial reporting
Prepare annual financial statements and quarterly board reports
Manage group consolidation and ensure data accuracy across entities
Oversee technical accounting, prepare/review IFRS memos
Develop and implement group accounting policies
Assist in the integration of newly acquired companies
Design and enforce processes and internal controls
Drive automation and improve financial reporting systems
Provide reporting for shareholders, regulators, and other stakeholders
Manage inter-company reconciliations and group financial integrity
Supervise and mentor accounting team members
Collaborate across departments to align financial goals
Support the CFO and Financial Controller on strategic finance initiatives
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
CA(SA) qualification with at least 5 years post-qualification experience
Deep understanding of IFRS and technical accounting
Proven experience in group reporting, consolidations, and audit support
Strong leadership and team management capabilities
Experience in multi-currency, multi-entity, and emerging markets
Advanced Excel skills; proficiency in NetSuite and Datarails is an advantage
Strong communication skills (written and oral) in English
Experience working in fintech or high-growth environments preferred
UK financial reporting experience is a plus
Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
High emotional intelligence and stakeholder engagement skills
Strong problem-solving, time management, and analytical capabilities
