Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) Limited is a limited liability company solely owned by the Government of Uganda (GOU). It was established under Section 42 of the Petroleum (Exploration, Development, and Production) Act and Section 7 of the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream Storage) Act, both of 2013. It was incorporated under the Companies Act of 2012 as a limited liability company on June 12th, 2015.

The Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) Limited was established under the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act and the Petroleum (Refining, Conversion, Transmission and Midstream storage) Act, both of 2013 and incorporated under the Companies' Act, 2012. It is a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda. The overall function of UNOC is to handle the State's commercial interests in the Oil and Gas industry and ensure that the resource is exploited in a sustainable manner.
UNOC now invites applications from persons interested to develop their career with a dynamic and results-oriented Company to occupy the following position
Fieldwork: Conduct fieldwork to collect geological data through surveys, mapping, and sample collection. This may involve working in remote locations and challenging environments.
Data Analysis: Analyze geological data, including rock samples, geological maps, and satellite imagery, to identify potential mineral or hydrocarbon deposits.
Geological Mapping: Create detailed geological maps and cross-sections to understand the structure and composition of the earth's crust in specific areas of interest.
Exploration Planning: Develop exploration plans and strategies to target areas with high potential for mineral or hydrocarbon resources based on geological evidence and research.
Drilling Programs: Plan and oversee drilling programs to extract core samples from the subsurface for analysis. Interpret drilling results to determine the presence and quality of mineral or hydrocarbon deposits.
Geophysical Surveys: Coordinate geophysical surveys, such as seismic, magnetic, and gravity surveys, to gather additional data on subsurface geological structures and properties.
Environmental Assessment: Conduct environmental assessments to ensure exploration activities comply with environmental regulations and minimize their impact on ecosystems and local communities.
Report Writing: Prepare technical reports and presentations summarizing geological findings, exploration activities, and recommendations for further exploration or development.
Collaboration: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including geophysicists, engineers, and environmental scientists, to integrate geological data into broader exploration and development projects.
Research: Stay abreast of developments in geological science, exploration techniques, and industry trends through ongoing research and professional development activities.

Education: A bachelor's degree in geology, earth sciences, or a related field is typically required. Advanced degrees, such as a master's or Ph.D., may be preferred for senior or specialized roles.
Field Experience: Previous experience in geological fieldwork, including mapping, sampling, and data collection, is highly valued. Experience working in remote or challenging environments may be advantageous.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in geological mapping software, GIS (Geographic Information Systems), and other geospatial analysis tools. Familiarity with geological modeling and interpretation software is also beneficial.
Geological Knowledge: Strong understanding of geological principles, including sedimentology, stratigraphy, structural geology, and mineralogy. Knowledge of the local geology and geological history of exploration areas is important.
Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex geological data and draw meaningful conclusions from disparate sources of information.
Communication Skills: Effective written and verbal communication skills are essential for presenting geological findings, writing technical reports, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.
Fieldwork Skills: Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in challenging conditions for extended periods. Proficiency in navigation, field mapping, and sample collection techniques.
Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with regulatory requirements for mineral exploration and environmental permitting in relevant jurisdictions. Knowledge of environmental regulations and best practices is important for minimizing the environmental impact of exploration activities.
Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with geoscientists, engineers, and other professionals to achieve exploration objectives.
Ethical Conduct: Adherence to professional ethics and standards of conduct, including integrity, objectivity, and respect for environmental and social considerations in exploration activities.
