Exams Invigilators job at British Council
British Council
We are looking for suitably qualified candidates to ensure that any test administered by the British Council runs smoothly on the test day/s and that all assigned test day duties and standards are met. The post holder will be part of Uganda Exams team. The post holder will be part of a wider pool of test day personnel, contracted to support the delivery of a variety of tests on behalf of the British Council across various locations in the country. The post holder will be required to work very closely with a team of other test day personnel and test day service providers.
Preparation Before the Exam
Room Setup: Ensure the examination room is set up according to the requirements, including arranging desks, chairs, and exam materials.
Material Distribution: Distribute exam papers, answer booklets, and other necessary materials to candidates.
Attendance Verification: Check candidates' identification and mark attendance.
During the Exam
Monitoring: Supervise candidates throughout the examination to prevent cheating and ensure that the exam environment is conducive to concentration.
Instructions: Provide clear instructions to candidates regarding exam procedures, time limits, and any specific rules.
Timing: Keep track of the time and provide warnings at appropriate intervals (e.g., halfway through, 15 minutes remaining).
Assistance: Assist candidates with procedural questions, such as clarifying instructions or providing additional materials, without aiding with the content of the exam.
Incident Reporting: Note any irregularities or breaches of exam regulations and report them to the examination coordinator or supervisor.
After the Exam
Collection of Materials: Collect all exam papers, answer booklets, and any other materials used during the exam.
Checking: Ensure that all collected materials are correctly labeled and accounted for.
Room Clearance: Ensure the exam room is left in good order for subsequent use.
General Duties
Security: Ensure the security of the examination materials at all times.
Confidentiality: Maintain the confidentiality of examination content and candidate information.
Compliance: Adhere to all examination policies and procedures set by the educational institution or examination board.
English language level of B1 (Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing skills) or equivalent (e.g. Cambridge English PET, IELTS 5)
Diploma or equivalent qualification
Customer Service: Experience of responding to children/ young adults and parents' needs (as customers) in a professional manner, to a high level of quality
Desirable Requirements:
Previous invigilator experience
Awareness of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
