Background
Founded in 1933, the International Rescue Committee (www.rescue.org) is a world leader in relief, rehabilitation and post-conflict development services for those uprooted or affected by violent conflict and oppression. The IRC is currently working in over 40 countries around the world, addressing both the immediate and lifesaving needs of conflict affected people in emergencies and the reconstruction needs of post-conflict societies.
The IRC began programming in northern Uganda in 1998 in response to mass displacement and devastation wrought by rebel group, the Lord’s Resistance Army. In 2002, the IRC expanded to the remote, conflict-affected region of Karamoja and in 2011, began working with refugees in Kampala and Kiryandongo settlement. Monitoring the influx of South Sudanese refugees at the end of 2015, the IRC began scaling up its response to refugees arriving in the West Nile region. By promoting durable solutions that deliver on the interdependent aims of saving lives, strengthening institutions, and supporting social cohesion, the IRC in Uganda is laying the building blocks for long-term stability and development –bringing people from harm to home. The IRC currently works in 7 districts in Uganda, including Kitgum, Lamwo, Moroto, Amudat, Yumbe, Arua and Kampala.
The IRC is currently in the process of expanding its programming to Southwestern Uganda – Nakivale, Oruchinga and Kyaka refugee settlements, to continue to provide life-saving services to conflict-affected and displaced refugee and host community.
Scope Of Work
Under the supervision of the ERD Officer/, ERD assistant will be directly responsible for mobilization of refugees and host communities, Support ERD officer in transparent beneficiary identification and registration. Actively participate in distribution site of ERD activities, participate in project activities implementation, conduct regular field monitoring of ERD activities, contribute to ERD program reports as per set indicators.
Carry out mobilization activities with refugees and host communities to ensure they understand the project objectives and activities.
Support ERD officer in beneficiary identification and selection in close coordination with other team members, local authorities, and other humanitarian agencies working in the area.
Actively participate in distribution of ERD activities, crowd control and ensure
security of IRC properties.
Participate in data Collection, assessments, and proposal development for the sector
Support in organizing the livelihood activities of ERD such as site selection, site preparation, distribution, and documentation for these components; Financial Inclusion, Producer and farmer groups, Business skills training and Vocational skills training.
Undertake regular field monitoring visits to ascertain progress and identify technical quality issues and provide solutions as required.
Produce/Contribute to ERD program reports as per set schedules (weekly and monthly) on grant activities, indicators, field programs and achievements.
Maintain a good working relationship with refugee leaders, host community leaders, OPM, UNHCR, District and Sub County Local government officials and behave in a manner that safeguards IRC public image.

Minimum of diploma/ Degree in agriculture, agribusiness.
At least 2 years of experience in similar position.
Experience of the local context of West Nile is an added advantage.
Outstanding knowledge of facilitation/training skills and process skills Writing and reporting skills
Networking and influencing skills.
Ability to communicate in applicable local language(s) is and added advantage.
Passion for children.
Track record demonstrating high integrity, reliability and dependable.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and being strong team player..
Valid motorcycle riding license.
