E&I Inspector - Instrumentation job at McDermott

Verification of required earth works, grading, trench excavation, pipe bedding, backfilling and compaction.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and implement Civil, Structural and Architectural (CSA) QC quality requirements, including but not limited to verification of foundation preparation, concrete works, the correct preparation and installation of reinforcements, sampling and concrete analysis, monitoring environmental conditions, curing and compression strength tests.

  • Verification of required earth works, grading, trench excavation, pipe bedding, backfilling and compaction.

  • Verification of building structures, steelwork fit-up and installation, vertical and horizontal alignment as well as the completion of roads and pavements.

  • Specialised scope in civil and architectural building installation including blast proof and slip form concrete structures.

  • Support in development, responsible for review and implementation of CSA Quality Plans & Inspection Test Plans (ITPs).

  • Manage CSA QC activities during the construction phase.

  • Review and approval of subcontractor proposals, CSA QC ITPs and procedures. Determine and administer CSA QC surveillances and monitor implementation. Coordinate CSA QC inspection resources and provide input into the inspection look-ahead.

  • Coordinate with Client Civil QC for efficient attendance and execution of inspection and testing activities.

  • Ensure all the requirements of CSA Specifications, Project Procedures and Drawings e followed.

  • Perform, supervise, monitor and witness critical inspection & test activities at site in accordance with the ITPs.

  • Exercise a proactive approach in the prevention of any potential issues by interfacing with Construction, Field Engineering, Subcontractors and Client as required.

  • Ensure completeness and endorsement of quality related records/documentation, maintenance and storage and that deliverables are progressively compiled, finalized and included into the final project handover records. Ensure Quality Records are signed-off by Client (where required) prior to handing them over for certification.

  • Raising, follow-up and verification of closeout of punch items. Provider regular reports on quality progress, issues, risks and opportunities to Site Quality Team.

  • Perform 1st and 2nd party audits as required as the QC subject matter expert for CSA

  • Raise non-conformance reports and ensure resolution of any non-conforming practices or materials/products and actively execute corrective and preventative actions.

  • Interface with Certifying Authority and other third parties to ensure timely certification and hand over of completed work.

Basic Qualifications:

  • College/university graduate and/or higher education with minimum 15+ years' experience in Civil Engineering/Construction and QA/QC function/inspections.

  • Familiar with site quality control surveillance schemes.

  • Experience in Building, Civil, Structural and Architectural QC activities. Experience with BS8500 and EN206.

  • Experience working in international Oil and Gas construction projects.

  • Major fabrication/construction site experience specifically related to blast proof buildings.

  • Beneficial: pipe inspection experience for building related pipework.

  • Familiar with construction standards and code of practices.

  • Experience in coordination of third-party authorities and associated regulatory requirements.

  • Preferred audit experience to ISO9001:2015 and/or construction inspection qualifications.
