Job Description
The Duty Manager acts as the central point of contact for guests and internal departments, ensuring high service standards are upheld throughout the property. They handle guest queries and complaints, supervise operational processes, support staff in their roles, and ensure compliance with financial and health & safety protocols. The Duty Manager also monitors the performance of key departments, conducts shift briefings, coordinates with reservations and finance teams, and produces daily reports. This position requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with flexibility to work shifts, including nights and weekends.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Serve as the main point of contact for guest inquiries, requests, and complaints
Ensure exceptional service delivery for VIP guests and special occasions
Oversee hotel operations across multiple departments (Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B, etc.)
Conduct routine property walkthroughs and inspections
Coordinate interdepartmental communication and problem-solving
Supervise, motivate, and guide team members during shifts
Conduct shift briefings and enforce hotel standards and policies
Monitor and ensure proper cash handling and financial procedures
Support end-of-day financial reconciliation and room rate management
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and emergency protocols
Report incidents and prepare shift summaries for management
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Minimum Qualifications:
Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management or a related field
Experience:
At least 3 years of hotel operations experience, including 1 year in a supervisory role
Skills and Competencies:
Proficient in hotel management systems (e.g., Opera, PMS)
Strong leadership and decision-making skills
Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
Ability to manage stress and resolve conflicts
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving capabilities
Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays
