Luwero is commonly known for the 5 year Guerilla war that ravaged the district between 1981 -1986, fought between the Uganda National Liberation Army (UNLA) and other rebel groups mostly the National Resistance Army which later became the known as Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF).
The war left Luwero Economically, Socially, Administratively and Infrastructures divested. Luwero was part of the former East Mengo District with its headquarters in Bombo. In 1974, East Mengo was split into two districts namely, Mukono and Luwero District. Luwero was composed of 4 Counties; Buruli, Nakaseke, Katikamu and Bamamunika. In 2005, Buruli and Nakaseke curved out of Luwero District.
Luwero District today comprises two Counties Katikamu and Bamunanika, Three Constituencies; Katikamu North,Katikamu South and Bamunanika, ten Sub Counties and eight Town Councils among the lower local governments.

Yielding the right of way to pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and emergency vehicles.
Stopping at red lights, stop signs and zebra crossings.

Respect for traffic rules and regulations:
A good driver should always obey the speed limits, road signs, traffic lights and signals. They should also wear seat belts, avoid distractions and follow the directions of the authorities.
Courtesy and consideration for other road users:
A good driver should always be polite and respectful to pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and other drivers. They should also give way to emergency vehicles, avoid honking unnecessarily and use indicators when changing lanes or turning.
Defensive driving skills:
A good driver should always be prepared for unexpected situations and hazards on the road. They should also maintain a safe distance from other vehicles, check their mirrors and blind spots regularly and adjust their speed according to the weather and road conditions.
Maintenance of their vehicle:
A good driver should always keep their vehicle in good condition and ensure that it is serviced regularly. They should also check their tires, brakes, lights, oil and fuel levels before driving and carry a spare tire, a jack and a toolkit in case of emergencies.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and Serving Ugandans to fill the under listed vacant post that exist in the service of Luwero District Local Government on replacement basis. Applications to be submitted in triplicate on PS Form 3 (Revised 2008) & ESC Form 3 (1998) Revised for Teachers only to the Secretary District Service Commission, P.O. Box 78, Luwero, to reach him not later than 12 March 2024 at 5:00 pm.
Applications should be accompanied with 3 recent passport size photographs of the applicants, photocopies of O' & A level certificates, certified copies of academic transcripts, certificates, appointments and confirmation letters for serving officers, Valid Practicing License, Registration Certificates for Health Workers and other relevant supporting documents. National identity Card is a MUST.
