Job Description
Reporting to the Transport Officer or assigned Supervisor, the Driver Grade II will provide driving services to support council operations. The role includes ensuring vehicles are roadworthy, performing minor repairs, keeping accurate travel records, and providing logistical support such as document delivery. The driver will also be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and proper care of vehicles, ensuring compliance with traffic rules, and performing other duties as assigned to facilitate smooth council operations.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Inspect vehicles before and after trips to ensure safety and roadworthiness.
Transport staff to various destinations for official assignments.
Perform minor vehicle repairs and regular maintenance checks.
Collect and distribute official documents as assigned.
Record and maintain detailed travel logs for all trips.
Clean vehicles and ensure they are well-maintained.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisor in support of council operations.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Possession of a Form IV Certificate (O-Level education).
Valid Class E or C driving license with at least one year of accident-free driving experience.
Completion of a basic vocational driving course from VETA or any government-recognized training institution.
Knowledge of vehicle mechanics will be an added advantage.
High sense of responsibility, discipline, and integrity.
Ability to follow instructions and maintain accurate travel records.
