Job Description
Provide legal guidance as well as oral and written interpretation of laws and other statutory instruments to the University.
Duties and Responsibilities
Establish the strategic direction, design and implement policies and procedures for overall Legal function of the University
Lead the defense and prosecution of all University legal actions:
Advise the University Council and Management on all legal and other matters;
Provide legal expertise to University Departments:
Provide leadership and manage staff and resources in the Unit Division
Plan and direct all aspects of the University's legal affairs and protect its legal rights;
Review and advise management on legal implications of internal policies and procedures; 8. Review and draft contracts and agreements in compliance with all statutory or legal requirements: 9. Liaise with External Lawyers on all cases that are referred to the Directorate for action;
Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for legal Unit to the Management and University Council;
Interpret laws, rules, regulations and documents for the University and Council.

Qualifications and Competencies
Qualifications
An Honor's Bachelor of Laws Degree from a recognized Instution:
A Diploma in Legal Practice (LDC): (An Advocate of the High Court of Uganda with a valid practicing certificate
A Master of Laws Degree from a recognized Institution will be an added advantage (v) Managerial experience will be an added advantage.
Experience
Applicants should have a minimum of Five (5) years in Legal Practice from a recognized Institution or Firm.
Competencies
Leadership and supervisory skills:
Ability to build, lead and work with teams c) Computer Literacy, Interpersonal and
communication skills;
Quick judgement and decision making. e) Ability to initiate change
Terms of Employment: 5-year Contract
