Job Description
Position: Director, Human Resources
Reports to: University Secretary
Remuneration: As per the Nkumba University Remuneration Policy
Age Range: 35 – 55 years
Terms of Service: Five-year renewable contract
Duty Station: Nkumba University, Entebbe
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
The Director will support the University Secretary in managing the Human Resource function of the University. Specific responsibilities include:
Human Resource planning for the University
Oversight and accountability for human resource management
Maintenance and management of human resource records
Organization and facilitation of staff meetings
Coordination and enforcement of HR policies and procedures
Management of the payroll system
Oversight of staff welfare programs
Development and periodic review of HR policies and guidelines
Supervision of staff development initiatives and training programs
Execution of any other duties relevant to the Human Resource Directorate as assigned from time to time
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Academic & Professional Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management or a related field
Registration with a recognized professional body regulating HR in Uganda
Professional HR certification is an added advantage
Core Competencies:
High integrity and strong leadership abilities
Creativity and innovation
Strategic planning and project management skills
Financial literacy and resource management skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Proficiency in ICT and HR-related software systems
Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a senior management position within a reputable institution or organization
