This is a full-time position responsible for administering, maintaining, and expanding dental services in a private not for profit hospital in Masindi Municipality. The job holder designs, develops, and implements appropriate dental care policies, protocols and procedures which are in compliance with the most current accepted professional standards. Responsible for direct provision of dental services and patient management.
Description of Duties
Diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, or malformations of teeth, gums, or related oral structures and provide preventive or corrective services.
Design, make, or fit prosthodontic appliances, such as space maintainers, bridges, or dentures, or write fabrication specifications or prescriptions for dental technicians.
Advise or instruct patients regarding preventive dental care, the causes and treatment of dental problems, or oral health care services.
Maintain accurate and complete electronic patient records reflecting the nature of the contact, the condition of the patient, diagnoses and the care or treatment provided.
Plan, organize, and maintain a dental health outreach program.
Produce or evaluate dental health educational materials and prepare or approve healthcare training material.
Liaise with consultants on adequate referral for handling specialized cases and follow up on referred patients.
Manage business aspects such as supervising professional, technical and administrative staff/volunteers in the dental department.
Train dental auxiliary staff to ensure application of proper technique and methods including infection control, update staff on new practices and procedures.
Responsible for advising the hospital procurement committee on the clinical ordering of dental supplies/equipment according to procurement policies, and monitoring utilization of supplies.
Responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and reporting safety hazards, dental operatory needs, and recommended improvements.
Conduct ongoing internal sessions to review/improve professional integration, interprofessional education and interprofessional collaboration with medical teams.
Support marketing activities for the dental department, advise on development of business-to- business relationships and continuously make recommendations.

QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS
Education and Aptitude:
Possession of a Bachelor of Dental Surgery and a Valid Practicing License from Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
Experience in implementation of quality improvement and patient safety programs
Dedicated to ensuring the highest quality of care to patients.
Excellent communication skills.
A Friendly and professional demeanor
Minimum 2 years’ clinical experience at a dental practice in the public or private sector.
The ideal candidate must be willing to work full time in a semi urban area in Our OneWorld Health Masindi Kitara Hospital.
