Cost Accountant (Manufacturing & Distribution)
Ando Roofing Product Ltd
This is a full-time role for a Cost Accountant located in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The Cost Accountant will be responsible for preparing and analyzing cost accounting data, maintaining financial statements, completing accurate journal entries, and overseeing various finance-related tasks. The role will also involve developing and implementing cost control measures to support the company’s financial objectives
1. Maintain and update standard costs for raw materials, labor, and overhead in the ERP system.
2. Analyze actual production costs and prepare monthly cost variance reports (e.g., material usage, labor efficiency, overhead absorption)
3. Support the month-end close process by preparing accurate cost of goods sold (COGS) entries.
4. Reconcile inventory accounts and analyze inventory movements, adjustments, and write offs.
5. Provide cost analysis to support decision-making for new product pricing, make-or-buy analysis, and process improvements.
6. Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and finance to monitor and optimize cost drivers.
7. Assist with annual standard cost roll-ups and budgeting processes.
8. Conduct ad hoc analysis related to margin analysis, freight costs, and distribution center performance.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Industrial Engineering, or a related field with a strong financial emphasis. Relevant certifications (CPA0
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing and/or distribution environment. Experience in a multi-locationor international environment is a plus
- Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, etc.), with experience in cost module configuration and management.
- Strong Excel skills (advanced formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis).
- Deep understanding of inventory management systems, costing methods (FIFO, LIFO, Weighted Average), and cost accounting principles (absorption costing, standard costing, variance analysis).
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and cost drivers across different product lines and distribution channels.
- Ability to identify cost reduction opportunities and implement cost-control strategies effectively.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to assess complex data sets, identify patterns, and provide actionable recommendations for cost optimization.
- Ability to analyze large amounts of data, while maintaining a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present financial data in a clear and concise manner to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, and Sales) to drive business goals and operational improvements.
