Project Background.
In quarter one of 2020, The TIDE project embarked on development of the e-Dairy training platform to respond to improved access to quality training content to dairy farmers that were affected by the COVID 19 Pandemic that sabotaged the face-to-face interaction. The platform consists of 13 themes on dairy farming operations that are fully available for reading and downloading. Since January 2022 the platform was launched to be used by users and over 40,000 users have visited the platform. The platform can support users of 3 categories: Basic farmers, Lead farmers and Extension officers. All these are utilizing the platform according to their respective competencies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Purpose of the Consultancy
Objectives
To maintain an up-to-date website that can be accessed by users whenever they need to access the site content.
To have timely responsive measures to address update requirements that would render the site inaccessible by users.
Justification
Since handover, the website has been promoted to several users especially to extension workers and several district local government production staff.
However, there has been more than two website unpredicted shutdowns due to missing background updates. This becomes an inconvenience to the users and depicts a bad picture about SNV who provided the product.
In addition, much as TIDE is closing in December 2023, ISDAP goes up to 2024 and uses the materials on the website to train farmers. Several users that have learned about the website are continuously using it and promoting it to other users. All this justifies the reason to keep the website running without interruption going forward.
