Job Description
Position Title: Communications Officer
Company: Finding XY
Location: Kampala, Uganda (with occasional travel to program and client sites)
Duration & Level of Effort: Two-year contract.
Assignments will be defined through individual Scopes of Work based on the organization’s evolving needs.
Position Overview
The Communications Officer will be responsible for shaping and implementing the organization’s communication strategy. This includes managing digital platforms, developing compelling content, strengthening the organization’s public image, and supporting internal and external stakeholder engagement. The role plays a key part in ensuring that the impact of Finding XY’s work is effectively communicated across multiple channels.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to enhance organizational visibility and stakeholder engagement.
Create and manage high-quality content, including press releases, newsletters, social media posts, reports, success stories, and case studies.
Manage and regularly update the organization’s website and social media platforms to ensure timely and engaging content.
Coordinate media relations, public events, and other visibility initiatives to build brand awareness.
Support internal communications and knowledge sharing across teams and departments.
Track engagement metrics, monitor media coverage, and prepare communications performance reports.
Ensure all communications align with the organization’s brand, tone, and messaging guidelines.
Provide communications support for proposal development, donor reporting, and outreach materials.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
At least 3 years of experience in communications, media, or public relations, preferably in a development or MSME-focused environment.
Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a strong attention to detail.
Proven experience managing social media accounts, websites, and digital communication tools.
Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, engaging, and audience-friendly content.
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
Familiarity with communication analytics and reporting tools is an advantage.
