Job Description
The Chief Operations Officer (COO) will oversee the daily operations and strategic direction of the company, ensuring the seamless management of freight and logistics operations. This role involves leading a diverse team, optimizing supply chain processes, and driving operational efficiency to achieve business growth and customer satisfaction. The COO will collaborate closely with the executive team to develop and implement initiatives that align with the company’s vision and objectives.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Direct and oversee the company’s end-to-end freight and logistics operations, including warehousing, transportation, and distribution.
Develop and implement scalable processes to ensure operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Maintain a high standard of service delivery and operational excellence across all business functions.
Strategic Planning and Execution
Collaborate with the CEO and leadership team to develop and execute the company's strategic goals.
Identify growth opportunities and operational challenges, providing solutions to achieve business objectives.
Monitor industry trends and implement best practices to maintain competitiveness.
Team Management
Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing operations team.
Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Oversee recruitment, training, and performance evaluations of staff to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Financial Oversight
Develop and manage the operations budget, ensuring alignment with financial objectives.
Identify and mitigate risks to minimize operational disruptions and losses.
Optimize cost structures without compromising service quality.
Customer and Stakeholder Engagement
Ensure customer satisfaction through timely and efficient delivery of services.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Logistics, business management or a related field
Minimum 8 years of experience in operations management within the freight and logistics industry.
Proven leadership experience in a senior operations role, preferably at an executive level.
Strong Industry Knowledge and Awareness in the sector.
ADDED ADVANTAGE
A Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) is highly desirable.
