The purpose of this anticipated PMI Mbu (Mosquitoes) project is to identify and implement proven, evidence-based vector control approaches in Tanzania, in support of reducing the overall malaria burden and moving Tanzania closer to Malaria elimination. The anticipated project has four primary components: (1) Insecticides treated mosquito net ( ITN) distribution; (2) Social and behavior change (SBC) for ITN use and other vector control interventions; (3) Using data, including those generated from entomological surveillance, to provide the Government of Tanzania and malaria partners with expert technical guidance, and as appropriate, develop plans for implementation of modified or new vector control approaches in Tanzania; and (4) Capacity strengthening of government institutions ( Mainland Medical Store Department (MSD) and Zanzibar Central Medical Store (CMS).
Duties and Responsibilities
The Chief of Party will be responsible with providing vision, direction, leadership, and management for the project. S/he will serve as project representative to USAID.
Qualifications and Competencies
Skill & Experience
Master’s degree in public health or social science.
Ten years of senior level management experience in the design, implementation, and management of programs of similar size, complexity, and setting;
Demonstrated experience in providing technical guidance and direction in the areas of malaria vector control interventions including institutional strengthening approaches.
Demonstrated leadership skills and proven experience in building and maintaining productive working relationships, including building teams and fostering collaborations to achieve program goals, meet program milestone, and produce quality program results;
Exceptional communications skills in written and spoken English.
Fluent in Swahili.
