Job Description
The Chef will oversee all kitchen activities, including meal preparation, food presentation, ingredient sourcing, and compliance with hygiene and safety standards. The role involves experimenting with recipes, maintaining kitchen equipment, and supervising kitchen staff to ensure efficiency. The Chef will also modify dishes to meet customer preferences and contribute to menu development.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Set up the kitchen with cooking utensils and equipment (e.g., knives, pans, and kitchen scales).
Study each recipe and gather all necessary ingredients.
Prepare and cook food efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards.
Supervise kitchen staff and delegate tasks effectively.
Inform wait staff about daily specials.
Ensure food is presented in an appealing manner.
Adjust recipes to meet customer dietary requirements (e.g., reducing salt, removing dairy).
Monitor food stock levels and place orders as needed.
Ensure freshness of food by checking and discarding expired ingredients.
Innovate new recipes and suggest ingredient modifications.
Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations in the kitchen.

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Qualifications:
Minimum of Senior Six (S.6).
A degree is an added advantage.
Culinary school diploma is preferred.
Experience:
Work experience as a Chef preparing local foods is an advantage.
Hands-on experience with various kitchen equipment (e.g., grillers and pasta makers).
Key Skills:
Advanced knowledge of culinary, baking, and pastry techniques.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Ability to remain calm and handle multiple tasks under pressure.
Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
Up-to-date knowledge of cooking techniques and recipes.
Familiarity with food safety and sanitation regulations.
