Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Campus Operations, the Campus Life Coordinator will manage daily campus life functions, including hospitality, warehousing support, recreation, and community events. The coordinator will work cross-functionally with different departments to enhance the student and staff experience, oversee recreation services such as gym and sports activities, and support efficient campus logistics. The role will also include community liaison responsibilities, supply chain management for campus life-related items, and assistance in event organization. The position is based full-time in Butaro, Rwanda.

How to Apply

  • Assist in daily operations of the Butaro campus for safety and efficiency

  • Design and execute campus life activities and events (sports, games, entertainment)

  • Oversee campus services: dining, cleaning, waste disposal, warehousing, and accommodation

  • Manage and maintain gym and recreational facilities

  • Support the Director in collaborating with other universities for sports events

  • Draft standard operating procedures for campus life initiatives

  • Coordinate monthly operational priorities and create work plans

  • Work with academic and research departments to support programmatic activities

  • Represent UGHE in meetings with guests, partners, and during fundraising events

  • Support procurement and supply chain needs related to campus life items

  • Assist warehouse teams during peak times (offloading, inventory, distribution)

  • Participate in regular procurement calls with Kigali team

  • Engage the local community in events and on-campus collaborations

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in a related field strongly preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations, hospitality, logistics, or similar fields

  • Prior experience managing complex operations in resource-limited settings

  • Knowledge of higher education, hotel management, or global health preferred

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

  • Ability to manage projects from inception to completion and coordinate cross-functional teams

  • Proficient in English and Kinyarwanda; knowledge of French is an asset

  • Ability to live full-time in Butaro (including weekends, as required)

  • Strong commitment to equity and social justice values
