Assistant Lecturers - Biochemistry job at Equator University of Science and Technology - EQUSaT

Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants to fill the following positions in the Faculty of Health Sciences of Equator University of Science and Technology - EQUSaT. Submit applications accompanied by detailed CVs, Copies of all relevant academic documents, proof of previous or current employment documents (where applicable) and Copies of National ID or Passport.

Applicants should indicate three names, telephone contacts and e-mails addresses of professional referees who can attest to their professional competencies and ethical standards for the jobs applied for.

Teaching:

  • Planning, developing, and delivering lectures, seminars, tutorials, and practical sessions to undergraduate and/or postgraduate students.

  • Designing course syllabi, lesson plans, and learning materials to effectively communicate course content and achieve learning objectives.

  • Assessing student learning through assignments, exams, presentations, and other forms of evaluation.

  • Providing feedback and guidance to students to support their academic progress and development.


Research:

  • Conducting original research in their field of expertise, producing scholarly publications, and presenting research findings at conferences and academic forums.

  • Securing research funding through grant applications and collaborating with colleagues and research partners on interdisciplinary projects.

  • Supervising graduate students, including master's and doctoral candidates, in their research endeavors and thesis/dissertation projects.


Academic Advising:

  • Advising students on academic programs, course selection, career pathways, and research opportunities.

  • Providing mentorship and support to students, including guidance on academic and professional development, networking, and job placement.


Curriculum Development:

  • Contributing to the design, review, and enhancement of academic programs and curricula in collaboration with departmental colleagues and academic leadership.

  • Incorporating innovative teaching methods, technologies, and pedagogical approaches to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.

  • Ensuring alignment of course content with disciplinary standards, accreditation requirements, and emerging trends in the field.


Service and Administration:

  • Participating in departmental meetings, committees, and academic governance activities to contribute to decision-making processes and institutional initiatives.

  • Fulfilling administrative duties related to teaching, such as course coordination, scheduling, and assessment coordination.

  • Engaging in outreach activities, public engagement, and community service to promote the university's mission and connect with external stakeholders.


Professional Development:

  • Pursuing ongoing professional development opportunities, including attending conferences, workshops, and seminars in their field of expertise.

  • Keeping abreast of developments in teaching methodologies, educational technologies, and disciplinary research through continuous learning and networking.


Institutional Citizenship:

  • Demonstrating collegiality, professionalism, and ethical conduct in interactions with students, colleagues, and the wider academic community.

  • Contributing to the intellectual and cultural life of the university through involvement in academic events, scholarly collaborations, and interdisciplinary initiatives

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery

2. From a relevant discipline from a recognized/accredited Institution of Higher learning,

3. Evidence of pedagogical skills training at a university level is an added advantage;

4. A good record of community and academic services is an added advantage;

5. Registered with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners’ Council or any other relevant professional body where applicable.
