Job Description
The Assistant Knowledge Management Officer will be responsible for managing both physical and electronic records, ensuring security, accessibility, and compliance with applicable laws and guidelines. The officer will design and implement record retention schedules, maintain a proper filing and indexing system, handle document disposal in coordination with relevant authorities, and ensure timely responses to internal and external information requests. The role also includes participating in committees, preparing quarterly reports, and sensitizing staff on records management practices.

How to Apply
Implement records management policies, procedures, and guidelines
Prepare and review filing classification schemes
Develop filing index systems and retention/disposal schedules
Initiate records appraisal and coordinate disposal in collaboration with the Kenya National Archives and Documentation Services
Develop and maintain physical and electronic records security controls
Manage online record storage facilities in liaison with ICT
Respond to internal and external information enquiries promptly
Prepare quarterly progress and status reports
Participate in at least one statutory committee
Sensitize staff on proper records management practices
Diploma in Information Studies, Library Science, Records Management, Information Management, or a related field from a recognized institution
At least five (5) years of experience in records management
Proficiency in computer applications and library information systems
Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and standards
Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and multitasking skills
High level of confidentiality and ethical conduct
Must fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya
