Job Description
The Assets Project Accountant will be engaged on a non-employment contractual basis for two years, supporting the Manager: Assets Project Accounting. The role involves handling end-to-end transactional sub-processes of Assets and Project Accounting in compliance with policies, SOX standards, and service-level agreements. The incumbent will also assist other departments such as Supply Chain Verification, Accounts Payable Business Support, and Network/IT teams, ensuring smooth Capex-related operations and accurate asset tracking.
The role also involves contributing to the improvement of operational processes, engaging in problem-solving, and helping deliver measurable outcomes aligned with Vodacom’s compliance and financial accuracy goals.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Manage the recording and tracking of fixed asset additions
Track Capex commitments and prepare detailed additions reports
Verify and confirm asset requirements
Analyze and determine appropriate asset classification and capitalization
Collaborate with departments to ensure timely and accurate reporting of asset usage
Support Accounts Payable Business Support and ITB teams in Capex project processes
Participate in continuous improvement of accounting processes and internal controls
Ensure compliance with internal policies, SOX, and audit requirements
Assist with monthly and quarterly closings related to assets
Provide reports and insights to internal stakeholders

Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
CPA, ACCA, or equivalent qualification will be an added advantage
Experience:
At least 2 years of experience in asset accounting, financial reporting, or related roles
Familiarity with ERP systems and asset management tools
Skills and Competencies:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Good understanding of Capex and fixed asset processes
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software
Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Team-oriented mindset with a proactive work ethic
