Job Description
The Agriculture Forester will manage plantation activities and coordinate infrastructure projects, labor, and logistics. The role requires developing and implementing forest management plans, overseeing staff teams, and ensuring operations meet environmental and social standards. The position also includes working with communities to ensure harmonious relations and protect the natural environment. This full-time, permanent role reports to the Silviculture Manager and is based in Abrewapong, near Asante Akyem Agogo.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Plantation Operations:
Assist in plantation layout, road design, and labor planning
Secure labor and infrastructure for operations, including camps and security
Oversee infrastructure development and provide logistical/procurement support
Manage teams, provide training, and report on progress
Support security setup, including fire management response
Input into and implement forest management plans and annual updates
Develop and execute operational plans and budgets
Ensure compliance with EcoPlanet Bamboo’s Standard Operating Procedures and FSC principles
Administration:
Manage logistics and procurement as needed
Follow plantation management plans, SOPs, and reporting requirements
Oversee collection and reporting of field data
Community & Environmental Engagement:
Work with the EHS & Community Liaison Officer on community relations
Resolve conflicts and attend community meetings
Protect indigenous flora and fauna
Enforce conservation and environmental protection measures
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
A Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or related field
2–5 years of experience in the forestry industry
Basic people management and training/mentoring skills
Ability to ride a motorbike is an added advantage
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in English (written/spoken) and Twi (spoken)
