Job Description
This role is focused on ensuring the integrity of financial records by managing all accounting functions up to trial balance. The Accountant will process and reconcile bank transactions, manage cash flows, handle customer and supplier accounts, prepare financial reports, and support internal audits and statutory compliance. The position also involves inventory management, fixed asset reconciliation, and adherence to Quality Management System (QMS) guidelines. The successful candidate will play a key role in month-end and year-end procedures, providing timely and accurate financial information to management.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Bank Management (15%): Reconcile cash and credit card transactions, liaise with banks, upload documents
Month-End Reporting (45%): Journal reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, VAT reports, income and balance sheet statements, and monthly financial reporting
Cash Management (5%): Credit card and Forex payment management
Debtors Management (10%): Customer invoice management, collections, issuing credit notes, resolving queries
Creditors Management (10%): Supplier reconciliations, payment processing, invoice validation
Inventory Management (5%): Monthly stock take assistance, system reconciliation
Accounting Administration (5%): Fixed asset register updates, audit preparations, and ensuring statutory compliance
QMS Compliance (5%): Maintain documentation and align accounting processes with QMS requirements
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Education (Essential): B.Com in Accounting or related Financial Degree
Education (Desirable): Honours Degree in Accounting
Experience:
1 year post-articles or 3 years accounting experience without articles
Experience in bookkeeping up to trial balance
Experience with inventory and statutory compliance
Commercial/financial accounting and reporting experience
Articles at an accounting firm (beneficial)
Skills & Knowledge:
Proficiency in Accounting Software (e.g. Pastel, Xero) and Microsoft Excel
Solid understanding of accounting principles, audit processes, and regulatory compliance
Bilingual (Afrikaans and English)
Valid driver’s license and own transport
