Job Description
The Accountant – Payables will be responsible for managing all outgoing payments, ensuring the timely processing of invoices, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting the financial health of the organization. The role requires a qualified professional who is a member of ICPAU, possesses strong ERP accounting system knowledge, and has experience in a fast-paced environment, preferably in the medical sector.
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Manage the full accounts payable process, including invoice verification, coding, approvals, and timely payments
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all payables transactions
Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies
Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies
Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes
Coordinate with internal departments and vendors to ensure smooth transactions
Generate periodic reports related to accounts payable
Support audit activities and provide required documentation
Use ERP systems to process and track all payments and vendor records
Support financial operations in other company branches and subsidiaries
Perform other finance-related tasks as assigned
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
Full membership with ICPAU (Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda)
First Class or Second Upper Bachelor’s Degree in BCom, BBA (Accounting), or BSc Accounting & Finance
At least 3 years of professional experience in a similar accounting role
Proficiency in accounting software, especially ERP systems
Deep understanding of accounts payable principles and processes
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
Experience working in a busy medical or health-related environment is an added advantage
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
High levels of integrity and confidentiality
