Project Background

The USAID Local Partner Health Services – Kigezi & Lango Activity, led by the Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC), supports the delivery of high-quality, integrated HIV/AIDS and TB services across the Kigezi and Lango sub-regions. The program is now extending its reach to the Ankole and Acholi regions to further improve the availability, accessibility, and utilization of these essential services.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Health Unit In-Charge, the Data Clerk will work as part of the health facility team to ensure high standards of data quality and management. The role involves supporting data collection, entry, verification, reporting, and maintenance of accurate and timely health information to meet both Ministry of Health (MoH) and donor reporting requirements.

How to Apply

  • Collaborate with service delivery points to ensure completeness of patient data in all relevant registers (e.g., ANC, ART, TB, HCT, Maternity, Nutrition, Family Planning).

  • Verify and validate data to ensure timely, accurate, complete, and reliable submissions to MoH and PEPFAR systems.

  • Compile and analyze monthly summaries of key program indicators to support Quality Improvement (QI) teams.

  • Manage and maintain electronic health data systems such as UgandaEMR and DHIS2.

  • Support facility-level quality improvement activities, including data collection, summarization, and analysis.

  • Accurately enter and clean program data in line with data entry protocols and standard operating procedures.

  • Perform regular data comparisons against source documents to ensure quality and accuracy.

  • Generate standardized reports from electronic systems for internal use and external reporting.

  • Support the update of facility QI journals and clinical audit tools (HEI, CALHIV, Adult, and NS).

  • Provide ongoing support to health workers on data quality assurance procedures.

  • Ensure patient-level data is securely backed up both on-site and off-site.

  • Maintain organized hardcopy and digital records in accordance with data governance policies.

  • Handle data-related inquiries and requests in a timely and professional manner.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Medical Records, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • At least 2 years of experience in medical records management or health data systems.

  • Proficient computer skills with strong typing speed and accuracy.

  • Experience working with MoH systems, international NGOs, or public health facilities is an added advantage.

  • Familiarity with UgandaEMR and DHIS2 is highly desirable.

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of health information systems and data quality assurance procedures.
